Check up & Clean (active maintenance)
Regular 6 monthly check-ups are encouraged with the hygienist or Dentist to allow regular removal of bacterial build up (plaque and tartar) and to regularly review the condition of your teeth. This coupled with good home care ensures your teeth remain in good condition and often minimises the need for difficult and costly repairs.
Visit www.healthysmiles.org.nz/your-oral-health/adults for more information about the benefits of dental check-ups.
Under 18's
Dental Care Centre is pleased to be able to provide free dental care to children aged 13 to 18. This dental treatment includes an annual check and any necessary work. Note: this service does not include orthodontic care.
Visit www.healthysmiles.org.nz/your-oral-health/teens for more information.
ACC
ACC will help with costs if you have an accident and damage your teeth. You will need to register your accident with ACC which can be done when you visit for your consultation. The Dentist will be able to advise any necessary treatment, advise of any treatment surcharges associated with the treatment and then apply on your behalf for any approvals required for the treatment.
Emergency Appointments
Dental Care Centre offers daily dedicated emergency sessions for those patients in need of immediate dental attention. If you are suffering from dental pain please contact the surgery on (06) 867 9108 to make an appointment with one of our dentists.
Pain killers, such as Panadol or Nurofen, may offer temporary relief from pain. Please consult your pharmacist for further information.
If you have had an accident, you may be eligible for treatment subsidised by ACC.
It is important to remember that regular dental checkups will aid in the early identification of many potential problems, often minimising the need for emergency work.
