
Tim Amess
BDS, PhD, MFDS RCS (Eng)
Tim is the Principal Dentist and owner of Dental Care Centre. He has recently celebrated 20 years of ownership of the Practice which he runs with his wife Amy.
Tim has over 30 years of dental experience and is committed to learning and professional development, regularly attending workshops and lectures which he incorporates into the services he offers at the Practice. He holds both a BDS and PhD from the University of Bristol, and a fellowship of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons England.
He has also completed the Progressive Orthodontics Course becoming a fellow of the International College of Continuing Dental Education. He is an active member of the New Zealand Forensics Society as well as a member of the New Zealand Dental Association and Dental Council.
Prior to owning the Practice Tim has spent several years at both the University of Bristol and Otago lecturing dental students in all aspects of Dentistry.
Clinically Tim has enjoyed developing the breadth of his dental skills and the incorporation of digital dentistry into his everyday. He enjoys the relationships and rapport he builds with his patients, helping his patients improve both the appearance of their teeth and restoration of everyday functionality through the use of orthodontics, crowns, bridges, implants, whitening and botox treatments.
Tim has been instrumental in building the positive team culture at the Practice which contributes to the happy and welcoming patient experience.
In his spare time, Tim enjoys hunting, tramping and spending time with his family at the beach. He is also an avid painter, many of his painting are displayed at the practice.
John Partington
BDS, MFDS RCS (Eng)
John rejoined the Dental Care Centre team in 2010 after spending seven years travelling the world and working in remote clinics across Australia.
He originally trained at Guy’s Hospital in London, where he completed his dental degree before working as a Senior House Officer in an oral and maxillofacial surgery department. After gaining his post-graduate qualifications, John spent two years working as a dentist in Gisborne, and after exploring the rest of New Zealand, he eventually found his way back to the place he loved most.
John enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and values the variety that comes with caring for patients in the Gisborne community. He takes pride in providing high-quality care and building lasting relationships with his patients.
Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his family and making the most of Gisborne’s relaxed lifestyle. He’s an avid golfer, and when he’s not on the course, you might find him strumming his ukulele.


Hannah Galloway
BDS
Hannah graduated in 2004 after completing her dental studies at the Royal London Hospital in the East End of London. After working in the UK for two years, she moved to Gisborne with her husband, and has called it home ever since.
Hannah enjoys all aspects of general practice and loves meeting people from all walks of life. She takes great pride in helping her patients feel informed and confident about their treatment options, ensuring they have the knowledge they need to make the right decisions for their oral health.
Outside of work, Hannah leads a busy life on her family’s citrus orchard and enjoys spending time outdoors. She loves keeping fit and exploring the local area. Most of all, she treasures time with her family.
Manpreet Ryatt
BDS
Manpreet joined the Dental Care Centre team in 2023 after moving from England. She graduated from the University of Manchester in 2015 and has since gained experience working in both hospital and private practice settings.
Manpreet enjoys taking the time to get to know her patients and talking through their treatment options to help them choose the approach that best suits their needs. She values building trust and ensuring every patient feels comfortable and informed throughout their care.
Outside of dentistry, Manpreet loves exploring the outdoors and has enjoyed hiking in many of New Zealand’s beautiful landscapes. She’s looking forward to discovering even more of the country as she continues to settle into life here.
